Welcome to the Energy and Environment Specialty Group (EESG) of the American Association of Geographers!
On behalf of the Energy and Environment Specialty Group executive committee and advisory board, we want to extend a very warm welcome.
This website serves as a resource and point of entry for a community of scholars, educators and practitioners working on energy and environment related issues. Our specialty group serves to expand the reach of our members research, offer financial support and awards, provide a space for sharing educational material, while hosting various events.

We recently updated our specialty group bylaws, with unanimous approval of the Executive Committee, Board of Advisors, and voting members! You can read our updated bylaws here.
New EESG leadership was voted in during the 2024 AAG EESG virtual business meeting! We would like to congratulate Ryan Stock on becoming Chair and welcome Tiffany Grobelski (Vice-Chair), Danya Al-Saleh (Secretary), Nikki Luke (Treasurer), Maddy Kroot (Graduate Student Representative), and Owen Harrington (Graduate Student Representative).

The Energy and Environment Specialty Group enhances energy and environmental geography scholarship, practice and education by inviting and supporting contributions from diverse scholars, practitioners, educators and activists. Our community highlights the critical importance of context-specific perspectives to advance orthodox understandings of energy and environmental scholarship.
